should trump be banned in philly? >> i don't think you should ban anybody from anywhere. it's just their opinion, you know, whether you agree or not. this country is, free speech. >> i can't imagine him being head of state, but he is entitled to his own opinion. >> i don't agree with banning anybody. i think he should be allowed to come in and speak his mind like everybody else does. >> pennsylvania democrats are calling for the pennsylvania gop to rescind trump's invitation for this weekend's fundraiser in new york city. the republican party said trump will be there, and it has invited all presidential candidates to speak to voters. meanwhile, this afternoon the white house says trump's comments should disqualify him from running for president. >> fact is, the first thing a president does when he or she takes the oath of office is to swear an oath, to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the united states. and the fact is, what donald trump said yesterday

disqualifies him from serving as president. >> now, to the muslim backlash. tonight philadelphia police are stepping up patrols outside mosques after someone threw a pig's head in front of a north philadelphia mosque. and there's a $2,000 reward leading to an arrest and conviction. surveillance video shows someone in this car throwing the pig's head near the front door of the islamic society mosque in north philadelphia. the pig is seen as an insult, since muslim dietary laws forbid the eating of pork. the fbi is now investigating. that incident at the mosque and trump's comments are contributing to an uneasy feeling in the muslim community tonight. we want eed to know how muslimsn the region are coping. lauren mayk joins us live from outside the mosque of where the pig's head was found in north philadelphia. lauren? >> reporter: good evening, jim. what happened here at the mosque has made some people scared, but there are a number of things that have been unnerving to those in the muslim community as

they try to convince others that they are not scary. she scrolls through facebook where friends talk about news like the california shooting. >> there were a lot of posts saying i hope it's not muslim, then when it came out with the names, it was just a lot of hearts sank when they saw who was responsible for the shootings. >> reporter: a college student studying to be a mechanical engineer. >> i'm always trying to show that we're just like everybody else, i'm here, at school, trying to get a degree, trying to get a job, just normal. >> reporter: but he's living in a new normal where the campaign for president includes a prem to ban muslims from entering the country. >> it's disheartening, i've been here since i was 1 1/2 years old, i'm a citizen, my parents are citizens, and we've built our lives here. >> i've been a muslim since june 22nd, 1973. >> reporter: he was born in the u.s., embracing islam 40 years ago. now chair of the religion department at temple, he can

look at it professionally. >> goes completely against the idea of no discrimination on the basis of religion. >> reporter: and personally. >> i am not so concerned for myself personally, but i am concerned for my family and the future of my children. >> reporter: his son is 10, too young to know what ibrahim is noticing. do you feel things are different? >> i think the islam phobia is heating up a lot more, especially after the paris attacks and last week. it's getting a bit worse for muslims in america. >> reporter: i spoke with a number of muslims today about donald trump's comments. interestingly, none of them were angry about it, but they were nervous about what it could mean for the future. live in north philadelphia, i'm lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. scandal in harrisburg. a pennsylvania ethics board today filed four ethics charges against state supreme court justice michael eakin. the board says eakin violated codes of conduct by exchanging lewd and offensive e-mails to friends. the charges were filed with the disciplinary court that has the power to remove judges. the investigation began after kathleen kane submitted more than 1,000 of eakin's e-mails. kane claims her legal troubles started when she released those e-mails. kane is facing federal perjury charges and state lawmakers are deciding if she can keep her job. new developments where a teacher was punched in the face yesterday at a high school. >> the school district removed the principal at george washington high school and reassigned him elsewhere. yesterday three students attacked a teacher and punched him in the face several times. police say it was all over a cell phone. george washington high school has been plagued by school fights to students pulling the

fire alarm as a prank. reducing violent crime in wilmington. tonight, delaware lawmakers sent a letter to wilmington's mayor and council members about concerns their recommendations have not been implemented. a crime commission recommended changes eight months ago. the letter reveals the five key changes, including deployment of at least 24 officers per shift, improving the murder clearance rate, developing a proactive crime reduction strategy, and improving police department's technology. also, accountability. the white house secret service officer arrested for sexting will stay behind bars until his trial. lee moore appeared in court today in wilmington. his attorney tried to get him released but a judge decided against that. investigators arrested him last month. moore is accused of trying to solicit sex from an undercover agent he thought was a 14-year-old girl. prosecutors say moore was also sexting while on duty at the white house. tonight, the naacp calls the

dover police officer's acquittal of assault disheartening. a jury came back with a not guilty verdict against the police officer caught on video kicking a suspect in the head. delaware bureau reporter tim furlong was there for that verdict. >> where is the justice? >> reporter: one woman posed that question to me on her way out of court. many who had seen this video of corporal tom webster kicking lateef dickerson in the face, thought there's no way the jury would acquit webster, but three men and nine women on the jury, including two black women and one hispanic woman did find webster not guilty. >> wrong, period, flat out, wrong. for me, i don't have a response to this, because it's beyond belief. i don't know how a jury in this community, 12 people, could reach that decision. >> reporter: webster was allowed to leave through a different door so he didn't have to face my questions. a couple years back a grand jury

chose not to indict webster, but in the midst of other racial problems involving police in other parts of the country a second jury did indict webster. the night in 2013 it seemed dickerson had complied to get down on the ground, but the jury agreed with webster's lawyer's version of what happened on the video. >> when you broke it down into milliseconds, you could see the gentleman moving his hands up and down. >> reporter: dickerson was not in court for the verdict and doesn't want to be interviewed. dover police are going to have to evaluate corporal webster's future with the police department and the naacp don't expect unrest in dover tonight, but they are planning a calculated response, we should learn more about that in the next few days. in dover, tim furlong, nbc 10 news. >> from our jersey shore bureau, a push for higher tolls on the atlantic city expressway. fitch ratings recommends a toll increase of 50 cents on the a.c.

expressway, but the proposed toll hike wouldn't go into effect for three more years. fitch ratings says the economic downturn led to fewer drivers on the road. a spokesperson for the transportation authority wouldn't say whether or not a toll increase will happen in the future. there could be a new lease on life for the showboat casino. a bill eliminating restrictions how it could be used is moving through the new jersey legislature. the state senate passed it yesterday. stockton university bought the closed casino last year, but legal restrictions prevented the school from using the building as a satellite campus. next on nbc 10 news at 6:00, hate on campus. swastikas found in a dorm. tonight, how the jewish community plans to bring all students together. why there could be even more close calls in the next few weeks. and for those of you who like this mild weather, so far so good for december. and it's only going to get warmer. my first alert forecast is next.

back in september a jury indictindic indicted snuka for the murder of his girlfriend three decades ago back in 1983. tonight, students at a south jersey university are coming together to celebrate hanukkah just days after swastikas and other hate messages were carved in a residence hall. >> south jersey bureau reporter cydney long is joining us live from rowan university with more on this fallout. >> reporter: jim and jackie, campus police are calling what happened here last week an act of hate vandalism, but to overcome it all, students and faculty have all received messages on their phones today through social media that look like this. that's because in less than an hour from now about 7:00 tonight, will be light the night, the first ever lighting, public lighting, of a menorah that's happened on rowan's campus, a university of all nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. >> for me i feel it's

unfortunate. we've come so far and seems like we're going steps back. >> reporter: students were upset to learn someone who someone gained locked access to the chestnut residence hall would carve swastikas into several dormitory doors. >> i don't think it's good. it's kind of scary also, because we're all just trying to get our education and, i mean, i feel safe at rowan, so that's kind of scary, because nothing's ever happened like this before here. >> reporter: police are not sharing with us the hateful images, a crime still under investigation. the university is hopeful to solve the crime as the campus chabad is spreading a message of peace and light on social media and inviting all to take part of a menorah lighting, this with a message of whoever carved the swastikas, goodness will prevail over evil. >> this is a chance for us as a gee u

jewish community for us to not feel we need to hide our judaism. >> reporter: and organizers tonight are hopeful the positives will outweigh the negative. they hope dozens, if not hundreds will come together to show peace and unity at a time when there's such a need nationwide. there's no surveillance cameras in chestnut hall and the hate vandalism is considered random because none of the students who lived in the dorms where the doors had the graffiti were jewish. live at rowan, cydney long, nbc 10 news. turning now to quite a sight, the beaches of the jersey shore may be empty, but there's plenty going on underwater and above the surface. >> boaters are spotting humpback whales and they have the videos to prove it. take a look. >> oh, my god! >> oh, my god is right. a humpback whale hit and lifted that boat out of the water yesterday. experts say the whales are being drawn towards the coastline.

a lot of people are concerned because some boaters have been moving closer to the whales intentionally to try to get a better look. >> very dangerous and it's also illegal to do that. that's considered harassment by changing the direction of the whale or causing it not to feed anymore. >> the whales are in the process of migrating to warmer waters for the winter. experts say it could keep surfacing here for a few more weeks. our mild temperatures at the shore may be contributing to that. >> maybe so, too close for comfort. >> i agree. glenn, what do you think? >> yeah, they may not have to go that far south to get to warm enough waters the way this year is shaping up. not only in the pacific with the el nino, but the atlantic is exceptionally warm, as well. we had the coldest day of the week today. it was still above average for the temperatures. it's going to get even warmer. 60s are returning, and it may get close to 70 degrees with

record temperatures over the weekend. yeah, you heard right. we have a mix of clouds and sun right now, no rain anywhere nearby. 46 degrees, the wind is light, it's 5 degrees cooler than it was at this time yesterday. and yesterday's high was 57, today 50. tomorrow 54, and then it just goes up each day. thursday, 60, friday 63, and then over the weekend even warmer than that. now it's cooling down, pretty significantly with mostly clear skies in some areas. 34 in kwaquakertown, 37 in coatesville, 36 in blue bell, 39 in reading. pretty cold for this time of the night, especially compared to all the warm weather we've had, but 43 in wilmington, 46 degrees in center city. and you can see how the urban heat affects this, 46 degrees northeast philly.

36 in blue bell. 33 degrees in millville. we have that light northerly wind not really having that much of an impact and temperatures get down into the upper 20s in some of the colder spots. allentown 28 degrees, for example, but we have clouds coming in from the west and that's going to prevent the temperatures going down even farther than we have predicted. some clouds have moved across when you have this clearing, but back to the west more cloud cover keeps the temperature up a bit at night, but there's no rain out there, so we're not going to get any rain. and we're not going to get any rain for the army/navy game either, but we are going to be getting exceptional temperatures. 66 degrees by kickoff. 66 degrees. and the temperature is actually going to get even higher on sunday when the eagles are playing buffalo toward the second half, temperatures may get up to 68 degrees.

and the cold air is a long way away. not coming in except maybe briefly behind a front. 37 degrees in philadelphia, 28 north and west are the low temperatures. during the day tomorrow, clouds around, temperature up a little bit over today, a few degrees, little bit more wind. 60 degrees on thursday, and then we just keep going up. record on saturday and sunday are possible. and then the next shot of rain not until early next week. i'm john clark, how frustrated is eagles running back demarco murray? what did he talk to owner jeff lori about? and we'll hear from the birds getting ready to face shady. that is next.

backs we feel good about putting in the game all the time. >> you could have one more added to the group, look who's back, running back ryan matthews returned to practice today, cleared from his concussion, he has missed the last three games. that's going to get more interesting. all this going on as the eagles all-time leading rusher mccoy makes his return to the linc sunday with the bills. shady says he still hasn't spoken with chip since he was traded. and lesean, no cutback about what he said about chip, doesn't take it back that chip got rid of all the black players and telling his teammates in buffalo he really needs them, he wants to win this game. he's rushed for 100 yards in three of his last five games. >> shady is on top of it right now, playing the best you've seen him play, he's peaking right now like he does a lot of times, i think always in november and december you've seen him be at his best. looks like he's in great shape, feeding the ball a lot, being shady. >> making it difficult for them for the first part of the game,
